TAP – What is Tapping?

The proper name for this therapy is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

It is the best known of the whole family of Meridian Energy Therapies. It works on the principal of the ancient and revered Chinese system of acupuncture points around the body to effectively remove emotional blocks and old behaviour patterns, often in just a few sessions.

Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT or Tapping, as it is more popularly referred, has been nick-named ‘Acupuncture for the mind’ although no needles are necessary. Instead a gentle tapping motion is used with two or three fingers following a set pattern of meridian points mainly around the face and upper body.

While completing a round of tapping you repeat a short reminder phrase which can be an emotion or a feeling to keep you focussed on the issue you are addressing.

There are free resources on this site to help you get started. They include the Tapping Aid Memoir and a Tapping Template for writing your own tapping set-ups.

EFT is an incredible tool that has been used for over a decade now to help people overcome a wide variety of physical and emotional issues. It is easy enough to be mastered by most people, including children.
